Health Inequalities - What Works for Us
Improving delivery of service
The Health Inequalities in London project, funded by the Department of Health, examined the experiences of BME elders suffering from, or at risk of developing, diabetes and coronary heart disease, to produce guidelines improving delivery of service. It took a unique approach by listening to the day-to-day experiences of older people and how they managed their diabetes and heart disease.
This initiative covered Brent, Wandsworth, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets and Newham in London to gather the views of BME elders and health professionals about health promotion, availability of support, strengths and weaknesses of services and gaps in provision.
