Manchester City Council Progressive Agenda 2010
Creating a template of good practice
PRIAE is making a substantial contribution to a comprehensive agenda aimed at improving the quality of life for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) elders in Manchester.
Over the next year, PRIAE will be working with Manchester City Council to inform the city’s progressive Agenda 2010 aimed at improving the conditions of for ethnic minority communities in the city. PRIAE will provide evidence identifying the needs of these communities – covering a broad range of issues including health and social care, housing, employment, and quality of life – and showing examples both of existing good practice and of areas where more work needs to be done.
PRIAE will be extending one of its successful research tools (previously used in the MEC project – see above) which addresses three dimensions – minority ethnic elders, health and social care professionals and the minority ethnic voluntary sector – with in-depth interviews in focus groups and questionnaires.
Once the data has been gathered, PRIAE will be involved in the formation of a coherent strategy which will inform the 2010 agenda.
